For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. Romans 8:14

God not only filled Paul and led him, but God also willed his success. You might say God did it all! How so? As Paul decreased, God’s Spirit increased and empowered Him to do the will of God. Although Paul never asked for this, it was God’s plan and Paul’s mission because God called him, chose him, and fitted him for this divine purpose before the world began. God gave Paul a heart to love people and love them; Paul truly did.

Paul yielded and was led in this way! Romans 8:14 promises that those led by the Spirit of God are His children. Now, how awesome is that! But, guess what? Being led by Him is born out of rebirth and enriched through fellowship, and its success takes practice and fellowship to achieve. Sure, we have His indwelling spirit, but if we’re not yielding, God cannot lead us, and He will never force us. Therein lies our most common dilemma. “Will we or won’t we yield to God?” Paul was in the know, and he believed that belonging to God should create a need for fellowship and a passionate longing for righteousness. Now those, indeed, God can lead.

King David knew what was needed for success, and he prayed that God would teach and guide him to that end. Here’s his confession:

“ ‘Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God’ Your Spirit is good.

Lead me in the land of uprightness.” (Psalm 143:10).
