Belonging to God

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written,
‘The just shall live by faith’ ” (Romans 1:17).

Do you know who you are? Paul did. First and foremost, Paul belonged to God. He made no bones about it, nor did he try to conceal his identity from others. Paul was not ashamed of the gospel, and he never apologized or made excuses for what he believed. He well-understood the gospel was everything; it was always before him, for it reigned in his heart and guided Paul’s life. He was prepared to testify of the cause of the hope in which he believed, and that would be Jesus. Moreover, Paul demonstrated the power of what he had received through faith by living a life that honored God. How did Paul do it?
First and foremost, Paul lived by faith in Christ alone. He was well-acquainted with God - Paul knew his Maker – and his faith and confidence were rooted wholly in God. Paul was focused, he understood his purpose, and he was unencumbered by the world and all its trappings. Paul never longed for riches, fame, or power. He didn’t care about popularity or being politically correct, either. Although he obeyed the law of the land and the authorities God had placed over him, his allegiance and devotion belonged solely to God. Paul submitted to these in honor of God, but never in place of God.
What’s the takeaway? Paul belonged to God and lived by faith in Christ alone. Do you? If so, you must make God a priority – Paul did. Give Him the place of honor in your life, spend time with Him daily, and pray without ceasing. Trust Him for all you need, including your salvation, because He will see you, though. Your faith will grow - exponentially - as you are strengthened from the inside out through the process. Nothing provides security like knowing that you belong to God and living accordingly! After all, He is either Lord or all or not Lord at all.
Prayer: Mighty and gracious Lord, help us remember that we belong to and that our hope rests in Jesus – the author and perfector of our faith. Thank you, Lord! We praise and worship you! Amen and amen.
